How do you charge for machine quilting?

Our quilting fees are charged by the sq inch. To calculate sq inches multiply width x length.  Other services are charged by flat fee of $35 per hour.  See tab "Services" for more information.

What do you charge for thread and batting?

There is a standard thread charge of $7.50 per Quilt.  We offer 100% color threads in solid and variegated colors.  Customers can provide their own batting, however, they can choose to purchase  Hobbs Brand 80/20 cotton/poly blend at .003 sq inch.  If you bring your own batting, we will not accept the brand that falls apart like cotton candy. These products do not allow us to guarantee the workmanship on your valued quilts.

What is your turnaround time?

We pride ourselves with a turnaround time of 2 to 3 weeks, depending on workload, from the time your top and backing arrive in our Studio. Catherine says "I don't believe customers should wait weeks or months for their orders.  We strive to get quilts back to customers within a short lead time".  We schedule orders on a first-come-first-serve basis.  Contact us if you have a deadline to meet as we can probably accommodate your schedule.  However, we recommend you email, call or set up an appointment as soon as you decide to have your quilt finished to ensure your place in line.  Note our busiest time is during the holiday season from September to December, so plan your project schedule accordingly.

Do you offer any discounts?

We offer 10% discount on quilts donated to charity or for Guild Opportunity Quilts.  Sometimes we have Coupon Specials.

What do I do if I wish to ship you a quilt?

If shipping, we recommend you package your quilt top, backing and batting securely within a strong box and wrapped in clear plastic to protect it from any outside water damage.  Ship it to us insured freight with some type of receipt confirmation.   We find the US Postal Service to be very reliable with economic prices.  Include your name, address, phone, email and any special instructions, such as design ideas, thread color and the date you need the quilt returned to you.   Ship the package to:  American Quilt Works™, 5415 67th STREET NE, Marysville, WA  98270.  Let me know the quilt is on its way by sending me an email ckessel@msn.com with the receipt confirmation number.  That way, I can be on the look-out for its arrival.    Once I receive your quilt, I will contact you to discuss the quilting work order.
